What is the nutrition value of avocado skin and pit?
I heard during Vitamix blender presentation in Costco that it's good to put avocado pit and skin into blender as well. But I can't find regular avocado nutrition information, for example here: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search Was there any research done about skin and pits? Are they really good source of nutrition?

- Try this site for Juicing Avocados: http://www.juicing-for-health.com/avocado.html Or here: http://www.avocado.org/healthy-living/nutrition This one gives you the information in percentages in graph form: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=5
- Here is the breakdown about the pit: http://www.avocadosource.com/CAS_Yearbooks/CAS_36_1951/CAS_1951_PG_139-152.pdf What I found on the skin: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_you_eat_avocado_skin This gives more information about the latex allergy warning. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=5#safetyissues Hope this helps.
- The pit! geez.. just think as if you were an animal... Do you see yourself ever chewing an avacado pit with pleasure? This should answer your question.. And it may be yes...?? not me!!! I would think if we were living as a tribe, we would want to plant and protect any avacado seed or seedling as one seed could be potentially a much greater amount of food with time... Us people should look to the easiest food on our body that gives us the most amount of energy... An avacado seed or skin is not. The flesh is one of the best food sources though.......
